The Design Process

Handcraft Furnishings can produce solid wood bespoke furniture from plans and specifications supplied by your architect or interior designer.

Alternatively, Handcraft offer their own in-house furniture design service with computer-aided visualisation for your own unique solution.

When designing fitted and free-standing furniture for a corporate commission, Handcraft Furnishings will consider:-

  • The client/business
  • The corporate feel
  • The type of property
  • The layout of the building

Areas to look at when designing and producing a bespoke solid wood reception area include considerations for:-

  • The location of the reception area
  • The dimensions and room plan arrangement
  • How the reception area is to be used

Does it require a functional workstation with:-

  • Integrated power, phone and network cabling?
  • Literature display areas?
  • Built-in appliances like monitors and printers?

For a solid wood boardroom or bespoke conference table, Handcraft Furnishings will determine:-

  • How many are to be seated at the table
  • The space available
  • If integrated power, phone network, computer or audio visual cabling is required

The location and access to the boardroom will also reflect in the construction of the table, whether it can be handcrafted in a single section or will need to be designed as a modular system that can be re-assembled on site.

Bespoke display cabinets are custom designed around the contents they are intended to display, with considerations for:-

  • The location of the cabinet
  • The size and dimensions
  • Built-in lighting
  • Inlaid mirrors

For flexible displays the shelves can be made to be adjustable, and glazed locking doors may be required for security.

Once a design has been commissioned and a brief agreed, the next stage is a meeting with Handcraft Furnishings at your corporate premises.

The designs will be presented as 3D drawings and plans, with estimated costs and samples of materials.

In some instances, full size sections of furniture may be presented to demonstrate finishes, woods and techniques, or even a scale model of a full room layout.

At the design stage there is an initial fee to cover the cost of this custom drawing service, which is deductable from the final production cost when the bespoke kitchen or furniture is complete.

Please Note: The copyright of all custom designs is retained by Handcraft Furnishings to be produced in-house unless otherwise agreed.

Production & Installation

After the design and order stages of a Handcraft Furnishings corporate commission are agreed, production commences at their four thousand square foot workshop in Tubbercurry, County Sligo.

The handmade pieces are then crafted to plan, pre-assembled in the workshop, disassembled and then fitted in-situ at the business premises.

This can be organised after hours or during the weekend to minimise disruption to the business.

Regular updates on the production process can be provided to the client by sending progress photographs via email if requested.
