Contemporary open-plan layout, modern shaker-style kitchen, with two-tone colour scheme and wooden accents.
This L-shaped kitchen is wrapped around a large quartzite topped island, with built-in breakfast bar seating. The focal point of the kitchen is the large stand-alone press larder with integrated appliances.
This modern shaker-style feel is achieved using a flush panel shadow-gap bead on doors and drawer fronts, which is continued throughout the interior of the house.
Dromahair, County Leitrim, Ireland
Main Kitchen Area
The kitchen is a contemporary, hand-painted, birch plywood in-frame construction with flush fitted shadow gap beaded flat panel Maple doors. The doors are mounted on stainless steel butt hinges and close with inlaid secret magnet door catches. Cabinet doors feature stainless steel square bar handles.
Solid birch dove-tailed drawer boxes open on secret soft-close runners with stainless steel square knobs. The solid Maple drawer fronts are hand-painted and feature a shadow gap recessed bead (groove) to match the doors.
The work surfaces are specified as 'Taj Mahal' white quartzite with a square edge finish, and low level splashback. A Falcon dual fuel range cooker was accommodated into the layout and was fitted with a larger antique mirror splashback.
Above the range is a 'pared-back' minimalist canopy construction with integrated charcoal filter re-circulating extractor. The simple canopy features a French Oak frame detail and integrated lighting.
The central island features a white quartzite worktop, and incorporates a breakfast bar with seating for two, in a waterfall style (flows down to the floor) and a stone gable end. The wet area has a custom-grooved recessed drainer, an under-mounted stainless steel sink, and features a Quooker instant hot water tap.
In lieu of overhead cabinets, the island is designed with storage on both sides, and the drawers incorporate peg organisers to arrange pans and crockery.
The full height larder press is designed to appear like a stand-alone piece of furniture, and is painted in a contrasting accent colour to provide a focal point to the kitchen. It continues the minimalist shaker style with a shadow gap bead and a modern stepped cornice profile.
This bespoke larder features solid Maple itemised drawers, spice racks and both an integrated door-on-door larder fridge, and an integrated KitchenAid coffee maker.
Discreetly mounted alongside the built-in larder unit, is a simple minimalist floating shelf crafted in French Oak, acting as a customised wine rack with glass holder slots/rails.
Open-Plan Dining Area
Enhancing the open-plan dining area is a minimalist built-in contemporary display unit/drinks cabinet. Crafted in solid Maple and designed to compliment the kitchen design, it has a painted finish to match the 'focal point' larder.
The display unit has integrated lighting and a Burr Oak veneer backdrop in a herringbone/chevron style. The simple cabinet top is in white quartzite and below are minimalist handleless, lay-on soft-close doors, with a shadow gap bead flush panel finish.
Utility/Boot Room
In addition to the main kitchen is a smaller Boot/Cloak Room utility, continuing the contemporary shaker style with a stepped cornice detail. Simple painted Maple doors are mounted on steel soft-close hinges with chrome steel square bar handles.
The Boot Room acts as both a cloak room and a small utility kitchen. It features bespoke Oak coat hooks and storage for hats shoes, and boots. A laminated block-board oak bench, and painted tongue and groove wall panelling. The utility kitchen features an integrated oven, hob, extractor and a solid Oak work surface.
Living Room Window Seat
In the living room area is a contemporary minimalist window seat built into the alcove. The square-edged seat bench is crafted in laminated European White Oak, whitened with lime and polished to a fine finish. Birch plywood drawers boxes have a dark blue polyurethane paint finish, and open on push-and-release drawer runners.
Living Room Display Cabinet
Facing the window seat is a colour matching display cabinet built into the alcove next to the chimney breast. The cabinet features 8ft high glazed doors, crafted in solid Maple, painted and mounted on soft-close weight-bearing hinges.
The display cabinet has integrated lighting, that illuminates 50mm (2") thick shelves with a solid maple edge and a painted polyurethane finish. To open, the doors feature custom-made solid stainless steel bar handles in a polished mirror finish.
Dressing Table Vanity Unit
Designed to look like a free-standing piece of furniture, this solid Walnut dressing table has an in-frame construction and a plumbed counter-top vanity basin. The shaker style is continued with the shadow gap beaded detail on a flush door in solid Walnut.
The unit has a white quartz counter with a square edge. Birch plywood drawer boxes, lined with black felt, on soft-close drawer runners with solid stainless steel square knobs. To compliment the dressing table vanity unit is a matching handmade stool, also crafted in solid Walnut.
Bathroom Vanity Unit
Built into a small bathroom area is an additional contemporary minimalist shaker style vanity unit. Crafted in solid French Oak, the unit has Cluster Oak book-matched veneered flush sliding doors with grooved recessed handles. The unit is finished with a white quartz counter top with and an under-mounted white ceramic basin.
